Teddy Bear Olympics (January 25th)

The Teddy Bear Olympics was another last minute idea that I had, when I found the medals at the store the night before. I felt it was a nice extension of both Bears and our new exercise area.

EVENT 1: Teddy Bear Bounce
Hold onto those bears and bounce to the finish line!

The Audience

Duh Da Da Dahhhh!

EVENT 2: Teddy Bear Jump (Throw)
Put your bears feet on the floor and then help it "jump."

Event 3: Teddy Bear Dance Marathon
Whatever you do, don't stop dancing until the song is over! I was too busy dancing to get many photos.

Awards Ceremony
In the background you will see the flags that they each designed to represent their bear and its home country.

These kids were beaming as we called their names and presented them with their medals. What a great way to end a great week!

*While searching for ideas for events for our Teddy Bear Olympics I came across a blog post of a similar activity. I thought I would give a shout out to Sun Hats and Wellie Boots. Their Olympics were more based on a geography study.

More Bear Waltzing Videos

Can you tell that I am having just as much fun as the kids this week?
I love to watch these over and over again. I notice something different going on each time!

Teddy Bear Reunion: Day 3

Sometimes freezing cold days can be the most heartwarming.

Me: It's almost time for snack
Preschooler: Is it a Teddy Bear snack?
Me: Ummmm. Sure!

So into the kitchen I went to come up with some sort of bear snack.

Then... I used my magic to turn them all into little bears!

There are not even words for this one.

A budding friendship. :)

A piano playing bear.

Ice Skating

Ice Skating like a bear.

The idea started to catch on.

One skate for the front and one for the back is very tricky.

Teddy Bear Reunion: Day 2

I love the concentration with his lips.

A real bear tooth brought in by one of the preschoolers.

More Bear Snacks...

How cute is this?!

I had the children gather their Teddy Bears around a "table" so that we could have our lunch. As I was gathering them, I realized I had not thought of anything to feed their bears. I asked the kids to try and remember what bears eat. I happened to have all of their suggestions on hand around the classroom. They blurted out suggestions. I then asked where we could find that item in our classroom and they helped find it! (Fish (memory game), bugs, acorns, blueberries (pompoms), honey (from the cupboard),  and leaves! This was such a wonderful spur of the moment activity! Plus the bear's looked ridiculously cute sitting there

I forgot to get a better picture of these before we ate them!
Banana Muffins. Yummy!

"The bears all demand at least one waltz a day..."
He goes wa wa wa waltzing, waltzing with bears
Raggy bears, shaggy bears, baggy bears too
There's nothing on earth Uncle Walter won't do
So he can go waltzing, wa wa wa waltzing
He can go waltzing, waltzing with bears
