Math in the Grass

Counting to three, hoping for four leaves.  Owen found an exception!

Thursday

This morning we spent a lot of time at the "green rug" reading a book called "Turtle Splash" and singing pond songs.  Here is one of our favorites

I had a little turtle, he lived in a box
He swam in the puddles, and climbed upon the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito, he snapped at a flea
He snapped at a minnow and he snapped at ME!

He caught the mosquito, he caught the flea
He caught the minnow, but he didn't catch me.

The following activity was completely child initiated, almost every child was involved at one time or another and they stayed interested for quite awhile.

Building a new home for the animals

Loading the animals into trucks for the big move
The animals move into their new home
Complete with garage and parking lot!

Hard at work

The following two pictures are of the children dancing to an Inch By Inch classic.  Lots of Little Fish by Laurie Berkner.  We have been doing the same routine with the kids since the first year we opened. I would be willing to bet any of our graduates would think of us if they heard this song!

Lots of little fish were sleeping on a rock, in the bottom of the ocean

Two crew

Just Ben and Teddy today for preschoolers!  We took a walk and discovered a turtle nest that had hatched. (I hope) The empty shells were everywhere!

The boys slept in tents at nap time!
