Wolves and Pigs

The Little Pigs (and a lurking wolf in the pink hood)
The Little Wolves

The Little Pigs would not let the wolves in to play.  We even said please but they wouldn't listen, they thought we wanted to eat them.  We tried to explain that we brought PB&J to share...
Finally The Little Pigs agreed to meet The Wolves outside at the picnic table for a picnic.  The food was imaginary, but what a feast they had.  PB&J with Shaker cheese (this is what wolves eat) and the pigs brought "slop cream cones" to share with everyone.  Yummmm.

An obstacle course we built.

The Wobbly Bridge.

You might notice in the background that they have begun cutting all our neighbors trees down.  It is quite exciting to watch,  but quite sad to think about.  They are doing this as part of the preparations for the major reconstruction of our road taking place this summer!  Look for trees along your way that have the orange markers, they are all getting cut down. :(

A Personal Favorite

I first read the following poem in my high school Early Childhood Class. Hope you find it meaningful as I always have...

Unity
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care

One was a teacher: the tools he used
Were books and music and art
One was a parent with a guiding hand
And a gentle loving heart

Day after day the teacher toiled
With touch that was loving and sure While the parent laboured by his side
And polished and smoothed it o’er

And when at last the task was done They were proud of what they had wrought
For the things they had moulded in the young child’s mind child’s mind Could neither be sold or bought

And each agreed they would have failed If they had worked alone,
For beside the parent stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home

Welcome Back Dana and Jakob!

The kids were all very excited and curious to have Jakob and Dana here. We finally managed to finish the story of the big bad wolf... Here are some samples.

Jakob was pretty bored with the whole thing. :)

Rain rain.... Go Away!

The morning started out like any other morning.  We had snack, circle time, and then on to small group.

Some kids were working quietly on block towers...

Others were working quietly on their names...

Then we did a little dancing to wiggle away the rainy day blues....

Then we sat down to write the ending of the three little pigs.  It appeared that many of our friends had NOT wiggled out their rainy day blues.  After much wiggling and jiggling and chitter and chatter, the teachers finally threw their hands up in the air!  This story is to be continued......
